Job Summary

The Tooling Technician I. is responsible for the assembly, maintenance, repair, and optimization of high-precision injection molding tools, including complex tooling systems such as multi-cavity, three-plate, and multi-shot molds. This role supports tool readiness, production continuity, and quality compliance, working cross-functionally with Tooling Engineering, NPI, and Production teams. The technician ensures tools are built, maintained, and repaired to meet production, validation, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tool Assembly & Disassembly:
- Assemble, disassemble, and reassemble complex injection molding tools including three-plate molds, multi-shot tools, and high-cavitation molds.
- Ensure correct fitting and alignment of components.

2. Tool Maintenance & Repair:
- Diagnose faults and perform corrective repairs.
- Perform preventive and reactive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot issues on injection molding machines.

3. Tool Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
- Support DFM discussions.
- Improve tool reliability, cycle time, and serviceability.

4. NPI & Production Support:
- Support NPI activities and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Perform self-inspection prior to release.

5. Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to quality systems and documentation.
- Maintain traceability of work performed.

6. Training & Team Support:
- Provide OJT and mentor junior technicians.

7. Operational Support:
- Participate in daily meetings and coordinate workload.

Knowledge & Skills

- Strong understanding of injection molding processes and tool construction.
- Ability to use tool room equipment and precision tools.
- Knowledge of polishing and finishing processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.

Education & Experience

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years experience in tooling or tool room environment.
- Experience with complex molds preferred.
