Waterfall BSA II, Job Summary

Conduct business analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analysis to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.

Independently conduct, in business analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analysis of more complex initiatives with little guidance to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.

Waterfall BSA II, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understand and embrace the business and IT strategic direction.
  • Analyze and evaluate business needs and elicit business requirements to recommend solution options.
  • Collaborate with key business stakeholders and leadership on solution evaluation and system selection.
  • Conduct inquiries pertaining to the development of new information systems to meet current and projected business objectives.
  • Participate in assessment of COTS solutions against business requirements.
  • Identify, engage and manage stakeholders from the organization.
  • Maintain positive relations with customers and vendors, and employees encouraging them to suggest ways of improving IT systems.
  • Conduct complex business systems analysis.
  • Formulate and define scope of system and objectives.
  • Oversee more than one project, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results.
  • Conduct gap analysis, analyze current and future state, assess risks.
  • Conduct requirement elicitation workshops.
  • Conduct interviews with end users and business stakeholders.
  • Drive application standardization during the analysis phase.
  • Specify and model requirements in the form of business requirements documents, functional specifications, use cases, user stories, business process models, UI wireframes and other forms regarding project and stakeholders needs.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation for responsible area with new or updated functionality (BRD, FSD, User guide, Test plan, Test cases Requirement traceability matrix, Maintenance guide, etc.).
  • Trace, prioritize, approve, verify and validate requirements.
  • Assess, document and manage requirements changes, system updates, improvements and enhancements.
  • Conduct peer reviews of the documentation made by other Business System Analysts and provide constructive feedback to teammates.
  • Provide quality assurance by tracing requirements; writing test plans and test cases; coordinating and performing testing to ensure that documented requirements and business needs are met, the solution is working correctly and delivers value to the organization.
  • Devise sample input data to test accuracy of program.
  • Observe or runs test of program using sample or actual data.
  • Coordinate user acceptance test with Subject Matter Experts.
  • Work closely with SQAs to review test cases and validate test results.
  • Collaborate with development team on the project realization.
  • Ask questions; encourage input from team members.
  • Participate as key team member during implementation.
  • Provide regular updates to appropriate managers and other stakeholders.
  • Confer with reporting manager on complex or unusual situations.
  • Serve as escalation point for troubleshooting issues and coordinate with other Business System Analysts and technical personnel for their resolution.
  • Perform root cause analysis and create technical notes (articles) for all new issues identified.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
  • Have detailed understanding of features of software applications assigned to him/her.
  • Have high-level knowledge of the existing application landscape to identify best solution for specific use cases.
  • Develop, provide, or coordinate system training, educational tools and materials for internally developed and off-the-shelf business applications for end users.
  • Assure that procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant.
  • Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and metrics management.
  • Establish new measurement systems if/where possible.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to all IT, security and department policy, processes and procedures (i.e. Security, Health, Safety and Quality) and utilization of IT governance tools.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all areas pertaining to the IT systems, data and proprietary information, whether internal to Jabil or customer specific.
  • Follow SDLC BSA processes, utilize standard deliverables and templates outlined in the processes, suggest improvements.
  • Exchange knowledge, information, ideas and suggestions for improvement with colleagues and Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the Jabil organization.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and in-depth field experience regarding emerging or job technologies required to fulfill the job, this could include formal or self-paced professional development and training.
  • Participate in peer knowledge sharing to ensure awareness of industry standards, trends and best practices in order to strengthen organizational and professional knowledge.
  • Participate in processes improvement, sharing best practices and proactively suggesting improvement points.
  • Proactively investigates new perspectives, attitudes to evaluate and improve knowledge and performance.
  • Identify and implement new practices and processes that are “best in field”.
  • Develop project plans and implementation schedules.

Waterfall BSA II Responsibilities

Independently conduct, in business analysis, needs assessments, user stories creation and preliminary cost/benefit analysis of more complex initiatives with little guidance to align information technology solutions with business initiatives in Agile mode.

Agile BSA II Duties & Responsibilities
