Sr. BMC Firmware Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. BMC Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and maintain Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) firmware for our cutting-edge server and embedded systems. This role involves working with complex hardware and software interactions to ensure robust and reliable system management.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and debug BMC firmware using C and C++ for new product development and existing product enhancements.

  • Implement and maintain firmware for various BMC functionalities, including power management, sensor monitoring, remote management, and system health.

  • Integrate and validate BMC firmware with hardware platforms, including board bring-up and issue resolution.

  • Develop and utilize Redfish APIs for BMC management and integration with higher-level management software.

  • Contribute to the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline for firmware development and deployment.

  • Work with Embedded Linux environments, including driver development and kernel configuration.

  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and test teams to ensure seamless product integration and delivery.

  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architectural planning.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex firmware issues in a timely manner.

  • Explore and potentially utilize Rust for future firmware development initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, with a strong focus on BMC or similar system management.

  • Proficiency in C (Programming Language) and C++ Programming Language.

  • Strong experience with Embedded Linux development, including kernel customization and driver development.

  • Solid understanding of Linux operating system concepts and debugging tools.

  • Experience with RESTful APIs for system management and integration.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD principles and tools for firmware development.

  • Experience with various communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, Ethernet).

  • Ability to read schematics and datasheets for hardware debugging.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Experience with Rust (Programming Language) is a plus.
