At Jabil (NYSE: JBL), we are proud to be a trusted partner for the world's top brands, offering comprehensive engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions. With 60 years of experience across industries and a vast network of over 100 sites worldwide, Jabil combines global reach with local expertise to deliver both scalable and customized solutions. Our commitment extends beyond business success as we strive to build sustainable processes that minimize environmental impact and foster vibrant and diverse communities around the globe.

Join a long-term international engineering project and work on advanced embedded audio/video streaming technologies powering professional products used around the world.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Audio/Video Streaming Engineer who enjoys working deep inside Linux-based multimedia systems, building and debugging complex GStreamer pipelines, optimizing real-time media performance, and solving the difficult problems that appear where hardware, operating systems, multimedia frameworks, codecs, and networking come together.

You’ll contribute to sophisticated Linux and Android-based products used across conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, home environments, and enterprise installations worldwide—with your work directly influencing streaming quality, latency, synchronization, performance, and product reliability.

Go Deep into GStreamer & Embedded Multimedia

This is not simply application-level video development. You’ll work close to the platform and have the opportunity to investigate the complete audio/video processing and streaming pipeline.

Solve the Problems That Aren’t Obvious

You might be tracing buffers and timestamps through a GStreamer pipeline, investigating why frames are being dropped, reducing end-to-end latency, debugging A/V synchronization, analyzing RTP behavior, optimizing hardware codec integration, or determining whether a performance bottleneck originates in the driver, multimedia framework, network, or hardware accelerator.

Why Join This Project?

If you are an experienced Linux/GStreamer engineer who enjoys understanding what happens inside the media pipeline—not just calling APIs from above it—and you like solving complex problems involving latency, synchronization, codecs, networking, performance, and hardware acceleration, this project offers the technical depth and engineering challenges to make a real impact.

Required Expertise

Must have

  • 8+ years of software development experience in multimedia, embedded, firmware, or system-level environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with GStreamer at the developer level, including building, debugging, and optimizing audio/video media pipelines
  • Strong programming skills in C++ or Java for embedded, system-level, or multimedia applications
  • Experience with Embedded Linux and/or Embedded Android platforms
  • Experience with Video4Linux / V4L2
  • Strong understanding of audio and video streaming technologies and protocols, such as RTP and RTSP
  • Experience with video and audio codecs such as H.264, H.265, VP9, or similar
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols, including TCP, UDP, HTTP
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across software layers, including middleware, operating system, and hardware interaction
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills

Nice to have

  • Experience developing or debugging Android applications and services
  • Experience with Android framework customization or platform-level Android development
  • Experience with Embedded Android / Android BSP / AOSP
  • Familiarity with multimedia, video, or graphics systems such as VAAPI, FFmpeg, OpenMAX, OpenGL, Android Audio, or SurfaceFlinger
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as WebRTC
  • Experience with camera integration or camera subsystem customization
  • Knowledge of hardware-accelerated media pipelines
  • Scripting experience with Bash or Python
  • Experience documenting firmware architecture or design specifications
  • Experience conducting code reviews or providing technical guidance to junior engineers

Expected Deliverables and Areas of Contribution

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of embedded software components for advanced audio/video streaming products.
  • Build, enhance, and troubleshoot multimedia middleware and GStreamer-based media pipelines for embedded Linux and Android-based platforms.
  • Work on new features, performance improvements, stability enhancements, testing, and bug fixing across multi-platform streaming solutions.
  • Integrate media components, third-party applications, user-space services, and system-level software modules into the product environment.
  • Cooperate with firmware, hardware, platform, and application engineering teams to clarify requirements, align technical solutions, and support smooth hardware/software integration.
  • Investigate and resolve complex media issues related to latency, synchronization, playback stability, streaming quality, and overall system performance.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and prepare clear documentation for architecture, implementation details, and key engineering decisions.
  • Create and support validation and testing activities to help ensure reliable firmware behavior and high product quality.
  • Participate in code reviews and share technical input with other engineers to support clean, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
  • Contribute to firmware quality by supporting product, compliance, and reliability expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
