JOB SUMMARY

As a Principal Engineer, you are the technical authority responsible for reviewing and investigating the architecture of the server system solution according to PRD of SA(System Architecture) team or customer requirements. This role provides expertise across the system components with industry standards, ensures designs meet performance, reliability, scalability, cost objectives, and consults across multiple projects to resolve complex technical challenges.

The Principal Engineer co-work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business and system requirements into manufacturable server platforms from concept through production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meet the requirements of Lead Design Engineer in your respective expertise.
• Represent Jabil Design Engineering in technical discussions / meetings with customers.
• Provide technical input to help identify and solve project risks that may affect overall project plans and schedules.
• Is expected to support the development and utilization of processes for design.
• Mentoring of all engineering staff
• Stay abreast of the latest technology and industry standards from PCI-SIG, JEDEC, SNIA, and OCP, etc.
• Provide design solutions that meet performance requirements while remaining competitive and cost effective.
• Experience of server system development with Intel/AMD x86 platforms.
• Should be associated with applicable industry trade groups/organizations maintaining active membership and participation.
• Lead the development and implementation of platform and product architectures in collaboration with senior technical staff.
• Guide and oversee the development of system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to maintain the consistency and integrity of the architectures.
• Ability to define/revise the specification and test plans for the qualification of Server system and all the way to the product level.
• Support the development of SOW/RFP responses, working with marketing, system architect and program management teams to ensure technical content of the SOW/RFP meet customer requirement
• Ability to investigate the architecture of Server system according to PRD of SA(System Architecture) team or customer requirements.
• Comprehend the partitioning of a design into components (Chips, Processors, FPGAs) to achieve the stated requirements.
• Work with key component suppliers to ensure that the critical components are integrated into the design correctly and are efficiently debugged.
• Work with the SW teams to ensure the overall system (HW/SW) is delivered.
• Work with other teams (Signal Integrity, Mechanics, layout, Testing) to ensure that ensure that all elements of the design are completed and are correct.
• Understand and support the development process from specification to production.
• Perform independent research and engineering studies.
• Effectively consult on multiple projects in parallel.
• Develop IP Patents, Technical Publications or White Papers
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Design Manager or Group Lead
• Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have hands-on server product design experience, with solid knowledge of server system architecture and various form factors.
• Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering from an accredited university
• Minimum of 11-12 years of related experience and/or training
• Minimum of 5 years experiences as a Lead Engineer.
• Specific requirements as defined by the market sector
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
