JOB SUMMARY

Lead highly complex embedded DC/DC power designs for cutting-edge customer platforms and strategic innovation projects. Serve as the primary technical authority responsible for product development milestones, driving cross-functional technical design reviews, and mentoring junior engineering talent. Ensure seamless alignment between front-end product specification inputs and final hardware design outputs, leveraging a proven track record of successfully launching complex electronics into high-volume production environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical Leadership: Develop and validate high-density embedded power applications from concept to mass production.
  • Design Supervision: Oversee and approve embedded power schematic capture and high-speed multi-layer PCB layout designs using industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Autonomous Execution: Direct all phases of electronic circuit design, component selection, and worst-case analysis with minimal executive supervision.
  • Talent Mentorship: Coach, mentor, and train junior-to-mid-level hardware engineers to elevate team technical capabilities and engineering best practices.
  • Architecture Alignment: Partner with system architects to dissect complex product requirements and define the appropriate system power architectures.
  • Hands-on Validation: Execute precision prototype assembly, bring-up, hardware debugging, and rigorous functional circuit verification. Develop comprehensive DC-DC test plans incorporating generic industry standards, OCP (Open Compute Project) specs,  and custom client specifications (Full validation for EVT; Regression/Stress testing for DVT).
  • Component Management: Manage strategic relationships with external component suppliers and manufacturers to provide input to their product roadmaps.
  • Client Interface: Communicate highly technical project architectures, test data, and engineering trade-offs effectively to global enterprise customers.
  • IP Generation: Driving engineering innovation to secure intellectual property and develop patentable hardware solutions.
  • Risk Resolution: Spearhead the resolution of critical design bugs, and efficiency trade-offs under tight schedules.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Regulatory Mastery: In-depth knowledge of global industry, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., UL, CE, IEC, FCC, EMI/EMC compliance).
  • Multi-Domain Expertise: Broad technical competency spanning advanced power supply topologies (AC-DC, DC-DC, VRMs), analog circuit design, and digital control theory.
  • Tool Proficiency: Mastery of hardware development tools including high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and simulation software (e.g., LTspice, PSpice).
  • Validation Standards: Expert execution of component derating analysis, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Silicon Validation: Direct experience with Intel/AMD CPU/DDR power verification, high-speed power integrity (PI) testing, and digital power management GUIs of vendors.
  • Equipment Mastery: Proficient in operating advanced lab equipment for power debugging and validation, including:
    • Oscilloscopes: Competent in capturing high-speed switching waveforms, transient responses, and ripple/noise measurements.
    • DC Power Supplies & Electronic Loads: Skilled in setting up input/output conditions to simulate real-world dynamic load steps and efficiency profiling.
    • Digital Multimeters (DMM): Experienced in high-precision voltage, current, and component-level resistance measurements.
    • Frequency Response Analyzers (FRA): Proficient in measuring Bode plots to analyze loop stability, phase margin, and gain margin.
    • Intel / AMD platform Validation Tools: Hands-on experience with specialized platform validation tools (e.g., VRTT, SDLE) for CPU/DDR Voltage Regulator (VR) compliance, load-line calibration, and dynamic transient testing.

Non-Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Strategic Influence: Proven ability to influence cross-functional peers and institutionalize hardware design best practices.
  • Global Collaboration: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills optimized for collaborating within matrixed global teams.
  • Risk Management: Sharp aptitude for assessing project risks, articulating technical blockers, and establishing predictable engineering milestones (e.g., NUDD).
  • Process Discipline: Deep familiarity with Stage-Gate Product Lifecycle Management (PLCQ) frameworks to ensure compliance at every gate review.
  • Review Facilitation: Experience leading comprehensive cross-functional engineering and peer design reviews.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Academic Credentials: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE/MSEE) or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Industry Tenure: 10+ years of hands-on experience in high-complexity embedded hardware design, power electronics development, or a closely related competency.
  • Equivalent Mix: An equivalent combination of advanced education, specialized training, and a demonstrable portfolio of shipped commercial products.
