TEST ENGINEER II – TEST OPERATIONS

Second Shift: M-F 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Test Engineer II supports second-shift PDC manufacturing test operations by leading day-to-day test execution, sustaining electrical and functional test processes, supporting system troubleshooting, and driving continuous improvement for large-form electrical assemblies and system-level electronics.

This role provides technical leadership on second shift for high-voltage electrical systems (480VAC / 120VAC), low-voltage controls (24VDC), Hipot testing, safety interlocks, and functional test troubleshooting. The Test Engineer II works under limited supervision from Test Engineering leadership.  Also responsible for supervising test personnel to ensure safe test execution, meeting production goals, documentation, and coaching team members to ensure test processes meet Jabil quality, safety, and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Shift Supervision

  • Lead second-shift PDC test operations with primary focus on safety, production execution, personnel support, and system troubleshooting.

  • Supervise Test Operators and Technicians assigned to the shift, including day-to-day work direction, technical support, coaching, and training.

  • Reinforce safe test practices, standard work, proper use of test equipment, and compliance with electrical safety, EHS, customer, and Jabil requirements.

  • Support achievement of production goals by monitoring test flow, removing barriers, escalating risks, and communicating status to Test Engineering leadership, Operations, Quality, and other support teams.

  • Document and report production detractors, test failures, equipment downtime, safety concerns, and process issues clearly and accurately.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects that improve safety, quality, test throughput, first-pass yield, uptime, and process consistency.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Serve as the second-shift technical point of contact for PDC test operations and assigned customer workcells or programs.

  • Design, develop, sustain, and improve test processes for PDC products.

  • Support test processes covering 480VAC and 120VAC electrical power and functional testing, 24VDC control systems, interlock validation, Hipot / dielectric withstand testing, safety interlocks, emergency stop validation, and compliance checks.

  • Troubleshoot product, process, equipment, and other test failures and coordinate corrective actions with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Maintenance as required.

  • Execute test process changes under direction of senior Test Engineers and support release of validated changes to production.

  • Help define and validate test methods for large-form electrical assemblies and safety-critical systems.

  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical, controls, software, fixture, and equipment-related test issues during production.

  • Support development, validation, and maintenance of basic test scripts, automation tools, fixtures, and test documentation.

  • Verify test equipment calibration status and escalate issues as required.

  • Support test station setup, validation, and release for production.

  • Assist with NPI activities, including test readiness, dry runs, and initial production support.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, EHS, customer, and Jabil standards.

  • Support failure analysis, data collection, and corrective action implementation.

  • Follow and enforce standard work and safety requirements during test execution.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical discipline required. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in manufacturing test engineering, electrical test, system troubleshooting, or a related technical role preferred. Working knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, Hipot testing, low-voltage controls, safety interlocks, test equipment validation, test documentation, and basic test automation preferred. Prior experience coaching, training, or providing work direction to operators or technicians in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience with electrical safety training or related certifications is preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain all required job-related certifications.
