Jabil has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Supervisor at our injection molding site in Gurnee, IL!
How will you make an impact?
The Quality Supervisor will direct, coordinate, and review all activities of QC Inspectors, Technicians, Metrology, and QC Document Technicians to ensure that Jabil customers' quality requirements are met prior to product release.
What will you do?
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment and Retention:
· Recruit, interview, and hire Quality Control (QC) resources.
· Monitor team member turnover, identify key factors that can be improved, and implement improvements.
Employee and Team Development:
· Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
· Create a cohesive team amongst the Quality Control groups.
· Obtain training for the team when necessary to address developmental opportunities.
· Encourage and explore cross-training within the QC department to increase the skill sets of the QC staff.
Performance Management:
· Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e., operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).
· Solicit ongoing feedback from Production Supervisors, Quality Engineers, Work Cell Managers, peers, and team members on the QC member's contribution to the team. Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team members based on feedback.
· Express pride in staff and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments.
· Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.
· Review and approve time sheets and PTO requests for team members.
· Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
· Coordinate team activities and keep them focused during challenging periods.
· Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in the area of responsibility.
Core Role Responsibilities:
· Manage internal non-conformances, including trending and status reporting.
· Manage Material Review Board (MRB) by scheduling and hosting meetings at a regular cadence with a cross-functional team to determine product disposition for products in non-conforming locations.
· Manage the calibration program by obtaining quotes for service, scheduling service, and maintaining records within EAM.
· Oversee the execution of the environmental monitoring program and document any deviations from the governing procedures.
· Support NPI and Sustaining Engineering Projects as needed to ensure project timelines are met.
· Collaborate with the Business Unit Manager and site Trainer to develop product- specific attribute training programs.
· Develop the QC Inspectors to become the Attribute SMEs for all product lines.
· Create appropriate QC shift coverage schedules to ensure optimal resource utilization while keeping employees' best interests in mind.
· Participate in On Time Delivery (OTD) Meetings per the current Jabil structure to ensure alignment between QC priorities and site delivery targets.
· Review and approve change control requests when applicable.
· Collaborate with operations and engineering to determine the root cause of products with high occurrence defect codes.
· Collaborate with Quality Engineers to periodically evaluate sampling plans to determine whether efficiencies can be implemented to free up resources.
· Support customer, internal, and regulatory audits by providing objective evidence quickly when requested and providing guided tours of the QC areas.
· Be able to backfill the role of QC Inspector or Document Technician when the need arises.
· Project a positive attitude and promote total involvement of all personnel in their daily duties.
·Comply with all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by the manager.
· Comply with and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Job is directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).
How will you get here?
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Min. 5-6 years of Quality related experience. Some previous supervisory experience is also required.
The ability to read and interpret drawings is required, along with a basic understanding of GD&T.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to read and write in English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic (Addition, multiplication, and calculating averages), use fixed and adjustable measurement instruments, simple use of sampling charts, and maintain and understand the control of records.
OPERATIONAL LINKAGES:
· Operations: Scheduling and allocating resources to meet the manufacturing plan. Communicating quality issues at work centers.
· Engineering: Collaborating during Qualification and Validation activities.
· Tooling: Collaboration on the manufacturing floor.
· Facilities: Collaboration on Environmental testing.
· Materials/Planning: Coordinating NCMR product priorities.
· Program Management: Collaborating to understand project priorities and resource constraints.
The pay range for this role is $81,400 - $146,500. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
