- Ensure incoming materials are accurately received, recorded, and placed in designated locations.
- Oversee kit preparation and verification to support complete, accurate, and on-time delivery to production.
- Partner with Planning, Purchasing, and Production to identify shortages, resolve discrepancies, and escalate material risks before they affect production.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of material movements, including transfers, production issues, returns, and scrap.
Inventory Accuracy and Control
- Maintain inventory accuracy within established targets for both warehouse bins and production floor WIP.
- Establish and enforce controls for material identification, location accuracy, traceability, and inventory transactions.
- Lead cycle counting and physical inventories, including count planning, reconciliation, and follow-up.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor WIP balances and material movement through production, partnering with Operations to resolve discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.
- Partner with Planning and Quality to control excess, obsolete, damaged, and nonconforming inventory.
Team Leadership and Development
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop supervisors, inventory analysts, and material handling personnel.
- Establish clear responsibilities and measurable performance expectations for inventory accuracy, material delivery, productivity, and safety.
- Ensure employees are trained in material handling procedures, inventory systems, and transaction requirements.
- Provide regular feedback, complete performance evaluations, and build succession plans.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and timely communication across shifts and departments.
Performance and Continuous Improvement
- Track and report key measures, including inventory accuracy, kit completeness, on-time material delivery, receiving turnaround time, and cycle count completion.
- Use performance data and root cause analysis to improve inventory reliability and reduce production interruptions.
- Improve warehouse organization, storage practices, and material flow to reduce unnecessary handling and delays.
- Maintain clear, effective procedures and work instructions for receiving storage, kitting, inventory control, and shipping.
- Manage departmental staffing, expenses, and resource forecasts to meet operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, security, and material handling procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
