Job Summary:**
The Tooling Technician at Jabil, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and modification of production tooling to ensure optimal manufacturing efficiency and product quality. This role involves precision work and a strong understanding of tooling principles.
Job Responsibilities:**
* Perform preventative maintenance on molds, dies, fixtures, and other production tooling according to established schedules and procedures.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling problems, implementing effective repair solutions to minimize downtime.
* Repair and replace worn or damaged tooling components, including inserts, core pins, and cavities.
* Modify existing tooling to accommodate design changes or process improvements, utilizing appropriate machining and fabrication techniques.
* Conduct tool try-outs and first article inspections to verify tooling functionality and part quality.
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
* Maintain accurate records of tooling maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
* Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while performing duties.
* Assist in the selection and procurement of new tooling components and materials.
* Operate various machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines.
Job Qualifications:**
* High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Tool & Die Technology, Machining, or a related field preferred.
* 3+ years of experience in tooling maintenance, repair, or fabrication, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
* Strong understanding of various machining processes, including milling, turning, grinding, and welding.
* Experience with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
* Ability to troubleshoot complex tooling issues and apply effective problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of different mold and die components, materials, and their applications.
* Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
