The ideal candidate has spent their career in an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) or similar environment and can speak credibly to customers, auditors, and the shop floor about electronics processes, defects, and test.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the site quality team and manage the development and maintenance of quality systems for SMT, PCBA, and box build/final assembly, ensuring compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Drive process quality and yield across the electronics value chain, including solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, wave/selective solder, rework, conformal coating, cable and harness assembly, mechanical assembly, and final system integration.
- Own inspection and test strategy and capability, including SPI, AOI, X-ray, ICT, flying probe, functional test, and final/system test, as well as development of inspection methods and equipment for new and existing products.
- Apply IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-A-600) to workmanship criteria and support operator and inspector certification programs.
- Lead root cause and corrective action using 8D, 5-Why, FMEA, and control plans; manage customer complaints, returns, and RMA/failure analysis for electronic assemblies.
- Manage statistical analysis projects (SPC, MSA, Cpk, DOE) to assess cost and determine responsibility for products or materials that do not meet specifications, including component, PCB, and supplier-related defects.
- Oversee supplier and incoming quality, including component and PCB quality, counterfeit part prevention, ESD control, moisture sensitivity (MSL) handling, and material traceability.
- Manage upfront quality planning for new product introductions (NPI), including DFM/DFT feedback, APQP/PPAP as applicable, first article inspection, and process validation.
- Manage the quality system audit program to identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are developed and executed on time; host customer and third-party audits.
- Manage site compliance with required certifications and standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 as applicable to site customers.
- Drive sustainable, repeatable, and measurable continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma), and report to site leadership on quality metrics and program status.
- Share best practices with other Jabil facilities across the network.
- Support plant and company safety initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
