SUMMARY
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to manage day-to-day quality engineering activities, including interpreting technical drawings, defining measurement methods, and preparing PPAP documentation for customer submissions.
The ideal candidate is experienced, proactive, and detail-oriented, with a strong background in stamping, machining, fabrication, and sheet metal industries. This role requires the ability to work independently and confidently, ensuring full compliance with quality standards while driving continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement new products and engineering changes, ensuring full compliance with Customer Specific Requirements for Design Change Management.
- Monitor project progress using APQP, PPAP, SPC, and RCA tools to maintain quality standards.
- Ensure timely delivery, risk mitigation, and adherence to key quality KPIs.
- Analyze and report quality performance metrics (e.g., PPM, defect trends) to drive continuous improvement and support strategic decisions.
- Lead cross-functional containment efforts, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Facilitate rapid resolution of issues and deployment of lessons learned across teams.
- Support Quality Management System (QMS) maturity through audits and documentation aligned with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Drive the implementation of advanced quality requirements and technologies to ensure compliance with customer specifications and regulatory standards.
- Oversee supplier’s manufacturing processes to verify adherence to quality standards and proactively address deviations to prevent non-conforming product outflow.
- Provide on-site coaching and technical training on Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) requirements, in-process controls, defect prevention methods, and special customer requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, enhance process efficiency, and lower the cost of poor quality.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Mechanical background desired; knowledge of plastic injection molding & tooling, metal stampings & tooling, metal fabrication and machining etc.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings (6 sigma training desired)
- Quality Engineering experience in SPC, DOE, CAPA, LEAN, 5S, Core Tools, QC7Tools.
- Experience with quality systems and controls.
- Blueprint, drawing, and quality manufacturing tool experience and measure methods.
- Experience and Knowledge with preparing PPAP Documentation for Customer Submissions (Production Part Approval Process)
- Understanding of the quality system and commercial regulatory requirements and how they relate to the business.
- Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio) and e-mail skills required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree required and two years Mechanical related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
