This role is to support a new factory in Prince George, VA (onsite) startup manufacturing large form-factor equipment. The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex. This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc. from the ground up. Skills to include: panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High Power Electronic assemblies.
1st Shift "A": Mon - Fri (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM)

Job Summary
The Training Specialist is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs that enhance employee performance, technical proficiency, and operational effectiveness within a manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with production, engineering, quality, and operations teams to identify skill gaps, develop targeted learning solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom training on first and second shifts.
- Become a subject matter expert in at least 10 core programs through observation and OJT.
- Apply adult learning principles to maximize training effectiveness.
- Schedule and coordinate training activities, classes, and events.
- Connect training content to job responsibilities and ensure competency development.
- Achieve and maintain high trainee satisfaction ratings (9.0/10.0 standard).
- Continuously develop and demonstrate effective instructional skills.
- Provide post-classroom and OJT support to new and existing employees.
- Provide timely feedback to management regarding performance gaps and training needs.
- Certify and re-certify manufacturing employees in accordance with company procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate training records, including training completion, test scores, certifications, and re-certifications, with 100% accuracy.
- Complete all training-related administrative tasks and follow established procedures.
- Identify training needs, critical job skills, and skill gaps; partner with management to develop training solutions.
- Develop instructional materials, learning objectives, lesson plans, instructor guides, handouts, class materials, and JIT modules.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, certifications, employee performance metrics, and feedback.
- Support assigned projects and contribute to Support Staff Team meetings.
- Follow all ISO, departmental, company, safety, and health procedures.
- Maintain a satisfactory performance appraisal rating and comply with all company policies.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma Required
- AA/BS in Industrial Engineering, Training & Development, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, production, operations, continuous improvement, training, or a related environment.
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies, Lean Manufacturing principles, and problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to quickly learn and become proficient in core manufacturing processes, systems, and operational standards in order to effectively train others.
- Experience identifying training gaps, developing training content, and evaluating training effectiveness.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively train audiences of varying experience levels.
- Ability to influence, coach, and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Strong execution and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable spending significant time on the production floor supporting employees and operational initiatives.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify performance gaps and implement effective training solutions.

The pay range for this role is $58,800 - $94,100. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
