Job Family: Semiconductor Capital Equipment Engineering
Job Profile Title:Lead New Product Introduction Engineer
Location/ Division Specific Information: Penang, Malaysia
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an accomplished Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer to own the transition of complex electromechanical, electronic, and fluidics‑based products from design into stable, scalable manufacturing environments. In this high‑impact role, you will lead DVT/PVT build readiness; establish robust traceability, configuration control, and documentation systems; and guide cross‑functional teams through the challenges of stabilizing high‑density, high‑complexity assemblies.
You will collaborate closely with Design Engineering, customers, manufacturing sites, Test Engineering, and Business Unit leadership to ensure NPI builds meet schedule, quality, and performance expectations. You will help mature products from restricted‑lab prototyping into full production while maintaining strict control of materials, configurations, and process documentation.
This role offers broad visibility, significant ownership of manufacturing readiness, and the opportunity to improve cost, quality, and manufacturability across advanced semiconductor capital equipment programs.
What will you do?
1. Build Preparation & Manufacturing Readiness
- Lead DVT/PVT manufacturing preparation by defining build requirements and readiness expectations with design teams and customers.
- Design and commission work areas, material flows, and storage solutions supporting prototype and pilot‑line activities.
- Develop and maintain complete, accurate Visual Aids, improving them based on yield results, inspection needs, and build‑flow optimization.
- Support resource planning and task assignment to achieve schedule commitments.
2. Traceability, Configuration Control & Documentation
- Define and implement robust traceability and configuration‑management systems to preserve material and build fidelity across all NPI phases.
- Lead documentation readiness (redlines, specification reviews, build updates, future action requirements) for DVT/PVT builds.
- Support product transfer to production via extended launch schedules to ensure long‑term sustainability.
3. Quality, Test Support & Troubleshooting
- Partner with Test Engineering on troubleshooting, issue resolution, and structured test data collection.
- Ensure operators are properly trained and inspection strategies meet quality‑first expectations.
- Apply quality system practices including IQ/OQ/PQ, Gage R&R, and validation techniques.
4. Cost, Process Improvement & VAVE
- Contribute to cost forecasting and maintain budget visibility for engineering leadership.
- Identify and implement cost‑reduction opportunities through process streamlining, task consolidation, or system redesign.
- Provide VAVE quotations supporting business development and program quoting activities.
5. Cross‑Functional Leadership & Customer Collaboration
- Work concurrently with Design Engineering, CAD Services, Business Unit Management, Manufacturing, Test, Purchasing, and Quality teams throughout design and ramp phases.
- Present build readiness, performance results, and capabilities to internal and external stakeholders.
- Use RACI structures to drive accountability and alignment across global teams.
How will you get here?
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 8–10 years of NPI or manufacturing engineering experience.
- Strong experience with complex mechanical, electrical, and fluidics systems in semiconductor, med‑device, or high‑complexity manufacturing.
- Extensive experience with NPI documentation requiring redlines, specification reviews, updates, and change control.
- High competency in cGMP and ISO13485 practices; strong focus on safety, traceability, and process discipline.
- Familiarity with plastic joining techniques (laser welding, ultrasonic welding, chemical bonding).
- Knowledge of incoming materials processes and receiving inspection.
- Strong project management capability, including manufacturing readiness and clean‑to‑start requirements.
- Experience with production transfer and ramp readiness.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Project, and foundational CAD, PLM, and ERP tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex semiconductor equipment builds, troubleshooting, and validation.
- Strong skills in writing technical documentation, procedural guides, and manufacturing instructions.
- Effective communication and presentation skills with customers and management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others, lead best‑practice adoption, and work across global teams.
- Experience evaluating risks, developing milestones, and working within stage‑gate PLCM frameworks.
Success in This Role Looks Like
- High first‑pass yield and schedule adherence in DVT/PVT builds.
- Accurate, complete, and tightly controlled documentation and traceability.
- Smooth transitions from prototype builds to volume manufacturing.
- Strong alignment across cross‑functional teams and global partners.
- Measurable improvements in manufacturability, cost efficiency, and quality.
- Role modeling behaviors of leadership and ownership.
Why Join Us?
- Shape the manufacturing launch of advanced semiconductor capital equipment involving complex electromechanical, fluidic, and chemical interactions.
- Own the full DVT/PVT readiness cycle and see your work directly impact product reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams, strategic customers, and high‑visibility program stakeholders.
- Drive meaningful improvements in manufacturability, cost, and operational efficiency across high‑complexity hardware platforms.
- Grow within a high‑development environment that values technical leadership, initiative, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
