JOB SUMMARY

To be a technical focal point to the Plant for alternate low cost, high quality components. The Materials Engineer will be a main driver in getting Jabil Strategic Suppliers approved on Customer AML, support AML review on new program start ups with EOL and Obsolete alternate recommendations and supporting the lead free initiative, monitor and work supplier quality issues directly with the manufacturer and communicate status on non-conforming parts/suppliers across all programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage electronic component data and documentation within SAP, ensuring accuracy and completeness of part records.

• Support the introduction, qualification, and approval of new components used in PCBA assemblies.

• Work closely with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to evaluate component specifications, alternates, and lifecycle status.

• Monitor component lifecycle (PCN/EOL notifications) and coordinate mitigation strategies to minimize production impact.

• Provide technical support related to SMT components, including passive, active, and electromechanical parts.

• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve component-related issues affecting production or product quality.

• Support cost reduction, standardization, and component optimization initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company requirements (RoHS, REACH, and other regulatory requirements).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience working with electronic components in PCBA and SMT manufacturing environments.

• Working knowledge of SAP for component management, material master data, and BOM structures.

• Familiarity with electronic component specifications, datasheets, and lifecycle management.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting electronics manufacturing operations.

• Knowledge of component databases, AVL management, and change control processes.

• Familiarity with PCN management and obsolescence mitigation strategies.
