Title: Firmware Development Site Lead

Location/Division: Intelligent Infrastructure, Bengaluru India

How will you make an impact?

Jabil is opening a new firmware development facility in Bengaluru India.  We are looking for a site leader who can leverage their technical knowledge and people skills to create environments where firmware developers, testers and architects collaborate to create innovative and reliable firmware in the Cloud Compute and Network Switching markets.

This role combines deep technical leadership with organizational management responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for building engineering teams, enabling the Architects and Development Leads to drive technical strategy, establishing development processes and standards, managing site operations and budgets, and fostering a culture of innovation, execution excellence, and continuous learning.

As a Firmware Development Site Lead, you will be expected to

  • Create collaborative cross functional engineering environments
  • Foster advanced, open and transparent processes and methods
  • Enable technical leads to drive the latest technologies and techniques while considering business risk.
  • Manage the day-to-day office space needs
  • Forecast office and headcount budgets and management monthly spend
  • Drive hiring and facilities expansion as needed
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Taiwan and the United States on an as-needed basis to engage with engineering teams, leadership, and business stakeholders, support site growth initiatives, align on business priorities, and drive strategic objectives.

IN YOUR ROLE YOU WILL

  • Meet regularly with fellow firmware leaders around the globe to discuss processes, methods, infrastructure and code base management.
  • Enable technical leads with resources, advice and conflict resolution such that technical leaders can drive technical direction.
  • Oversee site operations
    • Manage daily, weekly, monthly issues with the office space.
    • Identify needs, provide proposals and drive updates to the site as needed.
    • Forecast capitol expense and operational expense budgets and manage ongoing actual expenses.
  • Hiring and managing staff
    • Work with local and global leadership to identify head count needs.
    • Work with HR to create job requisitions, assess prospects and select candidates.
    • Assess current staff for performance and development.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Understanding of best coding practices, sources control, automated build process (CI/CD), testing techniques is required.
  • Familiarity with the latest tools such as git, JIRA, Jenkins and IDEs (VSCode) is required.
  • Familiarity with mainstream languages such as Python, Typescript/Javascript, HTML5, Linux Bash scripting strongly preferred. C++ is required.
  • Server BMC experience strongly preferred
  • OpenBMC experience strongly preferred
  • AMI MegaRAC BMC experience is beneficial
  • Server Architecture is strongly preferred
  • BIOS is beneficial
  • Working knowledge of Linux is required
  • Basic familiarity with typical company finance/budgeting process, hiring process and facilities management preferred. Willingness to learn these spaces is required.

NON-TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, drive alignment, and promote engineering best practices across teams.
  • Effectively communicate with excellent understanding of English
  • Work as part of a global team
  • Assess a project and articulate risk while developing project milestones
  • Mentor less experienced engineers
  • Demonstrated capability to lead site-level initiatives, support organizational growth, and contribute to strategic planning and resource management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering required
  • 15+ years’ experience in firmware design and engineering required
  • 5+ years of experience in management required
  • Excellent English skills are required.
