How will you make an impact?
As a Material Planner at our Auburn Hills, MI facility, you will be responsible for procuring all components necessary to support production and prototype builds. You’ll ensure timely material availability, manage supplier relationships, and optimize inventory levels while minimizing liability. Your role is essential in maintaining operational flow, supporting cost-effective procurement, and driving continuous improvement in supply chain performance.

What will you do?
- Participate in Master Production Schedule (MPS) loading decisions through proper materials sizing.
- Analyze, maintain, and execute the Materials Requirement Plan (MRP).
- Monitor and verify the materials pipeline to meet MRP requirements and resolve supply issues.
- Ensure materials availability to support production through MRP execution and coordination from receiving to production.
- Eliminate materials liability by understanding ownership (supplier/customer) and tracking customer-liable materials.
- Issue purchase orders aligned with negotiated pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Ensure supplier adherence to established agreements and optimize order management communication.
- Maintain integrity of master data and purchasing parameters to balance procurement cost and inventory investment.
- Monitor and improve supplier delivery and quality performance using corrective action tools.
- Support Accounts Payable in resolving invoice discrepancies.
- Provide input to Jabil’s commodity and pricing strategy and collaborate with Buyers, Commodity Managers, and SCM.
- Minimize freight expenses and monitor supplier performance on delivery, quality, and service.
- Adhere to all safety, health, and security policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
How will you get here?
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong math skills including percentages, proportions, geometry, and algebra.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, and commissions.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficient in Windows-based systems and Jabil software packages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret visual aids, instructions, and memos.
- Ability to present information effectively to groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and resolve standardized situations.
