JOB SUMMARY

The Automation Technician II – Days – A Shift at Nypro Inc. is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of automated manufacturing equipment to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency during the designated shift. This role focuses on supporting production goals through proactive and reactive technical interventions.

Job Responsibilities

* Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance on a variety of automated equipment, including robots, PLCs, vision systems, and associated mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on automated assembly lines and injection molding machines.
* Execute repairs, replacements, and adjustments of machine parts, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
* Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and PLC ladder logic diagrams to facilitate troubleshooting and repairs.
* Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new automation equipment and production lines.
* Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
* Calibrate and adjust sensors, robots, and other automated devices to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
* Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and part replacements accurately in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
* Proactively identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
* Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards (e.g., ISO, GMP).
* Provide technical support and training to production operators as needed.
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

EDUCATION AND MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

* Associate's degree in Industrial Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Automation Technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in plastics injection molding or high-volume assembly.
* Proficiency in troubleshooting and programming PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of robotics (e.g., Fanuc, Sepro, Universal Robots) and their associated programming.
* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams.
* Solid knowledge of industrial controls, sensors, motors, drives, and vision systems.
* Experience with preventative maintenance programs and CMMS.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work the "A Shift" schedule (specific days/hours to be defined, typically a rotating or fixed day shift).
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
